I’m Desiree Clarke. I’m a stage performer and director with a passion for humorous poetry, empowered politics, and delicious coffee.
See what stories she’s told and intends to tell…
Desiree Clarke (she/they) is a NYC-based creative and performer. Stemming out of her earliest training in Colorado performing original works, she is no stranger to constructing rich character livelihoods from the ground up. Continuing her training with the International Performance Ensemble at Pace University, she has honed her skills in collaborative theatre to develop stories of contemporary youth actively challenging the constructs caging them in.
Mastering her skills in poetic oration and holistic physical expression, Desiree Clarke, as a multi-racial transfeminine performer, is dedicated to rewriting mythologies and rediscovering lost truths found in the voices of oppressed minorities.
Senior Showcase

Closing off the rigorous training that I’ve done with the International Performance Ensemble, my senior showcase will be held on April 26th at the Theatrelab in NYC and virtually through EcoCast.
Withering Iris

I recently co-created and starred in an original production of Withing Iris as part of Pace University’s New Original Works Festival in 2022. An adaptation of the short story The Era by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Iris (played by me) packs the punch of teenage angst rising against a dystopian system set on keeping her quiet.
Individual Storyteller
Attracted to the power of poetry and unconventional storytelling, Desiree is working on a portfolio of her own and writing new theatrical works that she hopes to share in the near future.
Desiree can be found brewing coffee and/or reading classic X-Men issues at your local Brooklyn cafe. Bring up a historical figure with a queer background and you’re sure to have her undivided attention.
